Sleeps 12 self catering. R320 per person.

Minimum of 4 people.

The Red Cliffs Farmhouse is a great gathering place for hikers, groups and families looking for a beautiful accommodation option that has large communal areas for being together.

The Farmhouse is built around a 150 year old stone wall room, that over the years was added on to and expanded.  It has been lovingly converted with a slightly earthy and simple approach with large open plan living areas to provide a tranquil and calm refuge among the rugged terrain of the kloof. The lounge has a fireplace for winter.  There are four bedrooms, sleeping 12 people.  The rate is R320 per person per night.  Sleeping options in the Red Cliffs Farmhouse include:

  • two rooms with a king size bed, one with an additional single bed,
  • one room with four single beds,
  • one room with a queen size bed and a single bed

There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower.  A spectacular and spacious lounge, dining room with an outside deck, and well-equipped kitchen, create a perfect communal holiday space, ensuring you feel comfortable and at home. Close to the house is a braai/barbeque area set in front of the red cliffs – a stunning setting for star-filled nights around the fire.

You can find relief on hot days in the large cement reservoir swimming pool that is available to all guests at Cedar Falls, fed continuously by clear, fresh water from the mountain stream.

Please note that due to us being in a World Heritage Site, we are unable to accommodate pets.

Check in is anytime from 2pm on wards, and check out by 10am. Guests are welcome to arrive earlier and leave later if you want to do walks, however please ensure you are out of your accommodation so that our team can start cleaning for the next guests. Please note this is un-serviced accommodation though for stays of four days or more we will organise to have the farmhouse cleaned and new linen and towels provided. Please make sure that you arrange this when you make your booking and before your arrival.

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the scenery and hikes. what stunning spot! The house was most comfortable for our big group and the big supply of wood helped to keep us cosy and warm.

Thank you, we loved our time in the magnificent Barn Farmhouse.  It was very welcoming (we got caught out by the leopard statue at the entrance gate 🙂 ). It was well equipped for our family with plenty of space, cosy fireplace and comfortable living area all made for a relaxed weekend. We loved our 4 hour waterfall walk. Incredible scenery and nature around us.

Paolo

We had a wonderful time at the Barn, spectacular setting and great to sleep in such comfort after a 10 hour ride!

The boma was fantastic too….my only complaint is that we could not stay longer!

Meg

We had a WONDERFUL time!!!! We were fortunate enough to have the whole farm to ourselves and we so enjoyed sitting around a big fire every night.  Willem was also great, he was helpful and we loved hearing about the history of the farm from him.  The walk too was amazing, we managed to get our 4 and 5 year old kids past the first big pool, they loved it!

Claire

We had such a splendid time. Its completely magical there.

I wish the weather had allowed for a swim in the waterfall pool for me, but I will have to return to experience that. My husband Paul and the men did go up to the waterfall and loved it.

My highlights were the labyrinth – spectacular! and the Bushman paintings/ hike led by Willem. The veld is stunning at the moment FULL of flowers everywhere.

The great thing about staying in the Barn was its spaciousness – even when the wind prevented us from being outdoors we could all be comfortable and not on top of each other, indoors and have a fire in the hearth.

That said, the fire pit outdoors is great and was used with big enthusiasm.

The basics you have got so right: the things that can make or break your experience: a VERY comfortable bed, good linen and down duvet….wonderful.

Good furniture: sofas and that enormous dining table!!!

We all unanimously agreed that we’d like to return.

We had a wonderful stay at ‘The Barn’ during our recent holiday. It was everybody in our group’s first visit to the Baviaanskloof and certainly a highlight of our trip. We will come back and next time it will surely be for more than only one night. Compliments to Willem for being a good host. He made us feel at home and everything inside the house was clean, neat and tidy.
